“Hurricane Douglas is forecast to sweep through Hawaii as a tropical storm or hurricane later this weekend, where it could produce flash flooding, strong winds and pounding surf. Douglas is centered well over 1,000 miles east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii, and is tracking west-northwestward.

Maximum sustained winds in Douglas jumped from 65 mph to 120 mph in the 24 hours ending 11 p.m. HST Wednesday, which means the hurricane has undergone rapid intensification. Douglas is now the first major hurricane of the 2020 Eastern Pacific season.”
