When Did Hawaii Become a Part of the United States?

Hawaii became a part of the United States on August 21, 1959, when it was admitted as the 50th state of the United States of America. Prior to this, Hawaii was an independent kingdom, a republic, and then a territory of the United States.

The process of Hawaii becoming a state began in the early 1900s when Hawaii was annexed by the United States in 1898. In 1959, after years of political and legal negotiations, Hawaii was granted statehood through the Admission Act, signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Since then, Hawaii has been an integral part of the United States, with its own unique culture, history, and identity.
